Overview
A 16 year old X-Games snowboard Champion is uprooted from Montreal and slammed into the volatile Southern California surf culture after his hockey legend father is traded to the LA Kings.
“Breakers” refers to an unofficial area of Manhattan Beach, California known to those who follow the surfing religion. Once members of Montreal’s social elite, Addy and his sister Chloe now find themselves starting over, struggling to find their place in the blue-sky world of Manhattan Beach. Addy is immediately thrust into a battle with alpha-male surfer Phray when he inadvertently challenges his surfing status and befriends Phray’s ex-girlfriend Kaya. Kid sister and aspiring model Chloe is manipulated by the “popular girls” into submitting an essay outlining why she deserves to be a part of their clique. Meanwhile their father Luc faces cut-throat teammates half his age and a flirtatious publicist. His loyal wife, devoted mother Kate, looks for support in keeping the family together, but comes up empty in her search to replace her friends from back “home”.
Breakers chronicles the challenges faced by the Brock family, specifically focusing on Addy’s efforts to channel his talents into hardcore surfing - success being vital for not only personal fulfillment, but more importantly… social survival.
